Special Letter to Pilgrims[2017-08-29][Engleză]August 28, 2017, MondayDear friends, I am sending you this letter to invite you to join me in Rome in September for a pilgrimage to the heart of the Church. I though this opportunity might interest you, or one of your friends or family members. Our pilgrimage to Rome at the end of September, from September 20 to 29, still has several places available. We will be staying with the Maronite monks of Lebanon at their monastery, the Villa Serenella, just outside the center of Rome (photo below left). I think it may be a wonderful retreat from the craziness of our present political and cultural confusion. There will be daily Mass, and visits outside of Rome to Assisi, Norcia, Manoppello (where there is the mysterious "Holy Face" which some believe is the burial cloth which, in addition to the Shroud of Turin, was in the tomb at the time of Jesus' burial) and Lanciano (to the shrine of the Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano). The monks say there is plenty of room at the monastery, so I am are sending out this "last-minute" special invitation, hoping that you, or someone you know, might be able to participate... Villa Serenella is a stately, typically Roman villa-turned-monastery surrounded by 13 acres of olive groves, pine trees, walking paths, a soccer field, and fountains. The Villa is owned by the Antonine order of Maronite monks. After we settle into the Villa, we will take a familiarization walk to St. Peters Basilica, built over the tomb of St. Peter, the first Pope and the apostle to whom Christ entrusted the keys of the kingdom.
